-
- Plug in the power and turn your Google Nest Wifi on at the wall.
- Connect the WAN port on the Google Nest Wifi to the port labelled LAN1 or GE1 on your Optical Network Terminal (that's the fibre box usually found on your wall) with the Ethernet cable.
If you have a landline, plug this into the port labelled POTS or TEL on your Optical Network Terminal. - Download the Google Home app on a compatible phone or tablet if you don't have it already. You'll need a Google Account to complete setup.
- Once you've got the Google Home app, tap + in the top left-hand corner and follow the on-screen steps to finish setup and add extra Nest Wifi units if you have them (you'll also be able to set these up later).
All done! If you ran into any problems, simply factory reset your Google Nest Wifi and start again.

Think about where else you want a strong Wi-Fi signal in your home. Place your extra point about halfway in that direction, but not more than two rooms away from an existing Google Nest Wifi point.
Place your point in an open area off the ground and avoid placing it near other objects that will physically block your signal.- Plug in the power and turn your Google Nest Wifi on at the wall.
- Open the Google Home app on your phone or tablet.
- Tap + then tap Set up device.
-
Select Set up new devices in your home and the app will begin searching for your additional Google Nest Wifi.
- Follow the on-screen steps to finish setup.
Simply repeat these steps for each additional point you have.
-
If your device cannot find the Google Nest Wifi in the Google Home app when you are trying to set it up for the first time, please follow these steps from Google here.
-
Make sure you’ve completed the steps to connect your Google Nest Wifi to the internet first.
- Navigate to the Wi-Fi settings or network finder on your device.
- Select the Wi-Fi network you set up earlier from the list.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password you set up earlier.
-
If you want to change your Wi-Fi network name and password later down the track, just use the Google Home app.
- Open the Google Home app on your phone or tablet.
- Tap on the green Wi-Fi button and press the settings button (in the top right corner).
- Update your primary network name and password to your preferred name.
-
Wi-Fi speed can vary depending on a few things: the type of device you are using, the distance between the device and your router or point, the frequency your devices are connected to, and physical barriers like walls in your home.We recommend running a mesh test to confirm you have the ideal placement of your Wifi points.
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap on the green Wi-Fi button > Wifi devices > Points > Test mesh.
- Try to move your router or point to a more open or unobstructed location and your router or points closer to each other.
- Points work best when they are no more than two rooms away from the primary point.
- Place your point in an open area off the ground
- avoid placing the points near other objects that will physically block your signal
(like your microwave, TV or hot water cylinder).
-
Factory resetting your Google Nest Wifi devices will erase all current settings and data. After you factory reset a device, you'll have to set up your router and point(s) again. You might want to factory reset when you want to:
- Start fresh and set up your router or point(s) from scratch.
- Return the device.
- Erase all information from your router or point.
- Have forgotten your Google Account and can no longer remember your WiFi password or account password at all
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap on the green Wi-Fi button and press Settings in the top right corner.
- Scroll down and press Factory reset network
- Do the same for each additional point and press Factory reset Wifi point
-
If you are unable to access the Google Home App, you will need to use the hard factory reset button on the bottom your devices. Follow these instructions and ensure all your points have been reset before setting up them again.

- After the first six months, you’ll need to pay the monthly cost that was advertised (at the time you signed up) for your chosen Hyperfibre plan.

- Fibre Pro is only available in fibre areas.
- We can reject your application if we consider, acting reasonably, that you do not meet the Eligibility Criteria.
- We will waive our standard $14.95 modem delivery fee for this Offer.

The issue could be that your Wifi point isn’t properly connected. Check the power and Ethernet cables and make sure they’re securely in place. Find out how here.
-
In rare cases, you may have issues connecting to the setup network or get stuck on the “Checking Wifi point status” screen for several minutes. This could mean that your mobile device’s Wi-Fi is in an unstable state.
In general, tapping your mobile device’s back button and restarting the setup process can fix this. If that doesn’t work:
- Close the Google Wi-Fi app. Ensure you fully quit the app.
- For Android, tap the Recent Apps button and swipe the Google Wifi app to close it.
- For iOS, double-tap the Home button and swipe upward on the Google Wifi app to close it.
- Open your mobile device’s Wi-Fi settings. Toggle the Wi-Fi switch OFF then ON.
- In the list of available networks, select any nearby connected networks and ‘forget’ them. You can keep your Wifi point’s setup network.
- Open the Google Wifi app, and try to set up your Wifi point again.
If you still need assistance, please contact Google online support.
-
If your Wifi point isn’t getting an internet connection from your modem:
- Unplug your modem and your Wifi point from power.
- Wait about 2 minutes. This will make sure your modem and Wifi point are fully off.
- Then plug the power cable back into only your modem and wait 1 minute.
- Plug the power cable into your Wifi point and wait 20 seconds for it to power on.
- If you're setting up a Wifi point, close the Google Wifi app and reopen it to attempt setup.
- Your Wifi point’s light will continually pulse blue when it’s ready for setup.
Check out this help article if you still have issues.
-
- Open the Google Wifi app.

Our Protection Plan acts as insurance if something goes wrong with your internal wiring, purchased hardware, ONT, or ETP. For a small fee of $3.00 per month, Orcon can arrange for a qualified telecommunications technician to come to your premises and repair your internal wiring and sockets or arrange replacement of damaged hardware. Without the Protection Plan, you will be responsible for the repairs inside your premises. This means that if any repairs are required, you would arrange your own local electrician to carry out the work. Alternatively, you can request Orcon to organise a technician to complete repairs although you will be liable for charges up to $230.
-
